YouTube Host / On-Camera Personality
Be the face and voice of Into The Margins on YouTube, hosting founder interviews and original video content.
About the Role
At Into The Margins, we believe the most valuable entrepreneurial stories aren’t always the polished ones.
They’re the conversations about the difficult decisions, unexpected setbacks, hard-earned lessons, and moments that changed the direction of a business.
We’re looking for a YouTube Host to be the face and voice of those conversations on camera.
You’ll interview founders, guide original video segments, and bring the same honesty and curiosity that defines our brand to a visual, on-camera format.
This is a contract role and is ideal for someone who’s comfortable on camera, genuinely curious about entrepreneurship, and able to make a guest feel at ease while still asking the hard questions.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the on-camera presence that carries our video content.
- Host founder interviews and conversational video segments.
- Prepare for each episode by researching guests and their businesses.
- Ask thoughtful, well-informed questions that go beyond the surface-level pitch.
- Guide the pacing and direction of a conversation in real time.
- Deliver scripted intros, outros, and transitions when needed.
- Collaborate with producers and editors on episode structure and tone.
- Represent the Into The Margins brand consistently on camera.
- Adapt your interview style to different guests, formats, and topics.
Hosting for the Story
Hosting isn’t just about asking questions.
A good host understands the guest’s story and knows how to draw it out.
You’ll need to recognize when to let a founder sit with a hard question and when to move the conversation forward. You’ll know when a follow-up question will unlock something real and when it’s time to let a moment breathe.
Our conversations are designed to feel authentic, so we’re not looking for a host who sticks rigidly to a script. The goal is to guide a natural, engaging conversation without losing the honesty at the center of it.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with real experience hosting or presenting on camera.
You should have:
- Experience hosting podcasts, YouTube shows, interviews, or similar on-camera content.
- Strong interviewing skills, including the ability to ask sharp follow-up questions.
- A natural, confident on-camera presence.
- Genuine curiosity about business, entrepreneurship, and the stories behind them.
- The ability to prepare thoroughly for each guest and episode.
- Comfort working from an outline rather than a rigid script.
Experience interviewing founders, executives, or other business guests is especially valuable.
The Kind of Host We’re Looking For
We’re a small team, so reliability matters just as much as charisma.
You should be someone who:
- Makes guests feel comfortable enough to be honest.
- Listens closely and follows the conversation, not just a script.
- Knows when to challenge a guest and when to give them room.
- Prepares thoroughly instead of winging it.
- Communicates clearly with producers before and after each shoot.
- Is comfortable receiving feedback and adjusting your approach.
- Takes ownership of how each episode comes across on screen.
Most importantly, you should care about telling the real story, not just performing one.
On-Camera Quality Matters
Our audience may forgive a simple set.
They won’t forgive a host who feels scripted, distracted, or disengaged.
That means genuine curiosity, sharp listening, confident delivery, and a presence that holds attention whether someone is watching on YouTube, a phone, or a laptop.
You’ll help establish the on-camera voice and tone of a growing entrepreneurial media platform.
Your Production Toolkit
Comfort with standard video and remote-recording setups is expected.
Experience with tools or environments such as the following is helpful:
- Remote recording platforms (Riverside, Streamyard, Zoom, or similar)
- Teleprompter or outline-based hosting
- Basic understanding of lighting and camera framing for home or studio setups
- Familiarity with YouTube as a platform and its audience expectations
We’re not tied to one particular setup. What matters is that you can show up prepared and deliver a confident, engaging performance on camera.
Recording Schedule
This role supports a regular recording cadence tied to our publishing schedule.
That means you’ll need to be comfortable working within a predictable schedule and coordinating availability with guests and producers.
A typical workflow may look something like:
- Receive guest background and episode brief.
- Research the guest and prepare questions.
- Coordinate scheduling with producers and the guest.
- Host the recorded interview or segment.
- Debrief with producers on any follow-ups or reshoots.
- Review rough cuts if needed for accuracy or tone.
We value a reliable process because consistency is important to our audience and our team.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means our audience feels like they’re watching a real conversation, not a performance.
You’ll help us:
- Publish engaging, on-camera episodes consistently.
- Draw honest, substantive answers out of every guest.
- Build a recognizable, trusted on-camera presence for the brand.
- Develop a smooth, repeatable hosting workflow.
- Meet our recording and publishing schedule.
- Preserve the authenticity of founder conversations on video.
Over time, you’ll become the face our audience associates with Into The Margins.
Remote Work
This is a Remote contract position.
You’ll record from your own space while coordinating closely with our producers and content team.
You should be comfortable with remote recording setups, asynchronous communication, and delivering a consistent on-camera presence without in-person production support.
Why Into The Margins?
We’re building a platform around the real stories behind entrepreneurship.
Our conversations aren’t designed to make founders sound perfect. They’re designed to help people understand what actually happened — the risks, failures, decisions, and lessons that usually don’t make it into the highlight reel.
Your presence on camera will be how our audience connects with those stories. You’ll set the tone for every conversation and become a recognizable part of the brand itself.
You’ll work with a small team, shape our video content directly, and help build the on-camera identity of a growing entrepreneurial media platform.
How to Apply
If you’re interested in bringing great conversations to life on camera, we’d love to hear from you.

We care about how you connect with guests, the quality of the conversations you draw out, and your ability to deliver consistently on camera.
